Lindsey Denman

When I was in 7th grade at Northshore Junior High, while gooofing off my first coach and favorite English teacher, Ms. Surface (now Mrs. Plummer), told me I should play on the 8th grade team in the fall and so I should pay more attention. My only thought, only response: “Eh, softball is the same season, I can’t”. The rest as they say, is history.

Volleyball quickly became my world and an intregal part of who I still am today. I played for Mr. Andrew Ness my first year of club (14s), had a blast, and then realized the Academy is where I really wanted to be. I played the rest of my club career at WVBA.

I played and placed in the AVP junior beach Olympics when I was 16, 17 and 18. I was awarded the KingCo 4A MVP title, All-State Team, and the Seattle Times All-Area team my senior year at Inglemoor High school.

I then went onto the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma where I played for the wizard, Mr. Mark Massey. My sophomore year I was named to the All-Conference and All-Region teams and my junior year I was honored as an All-American. My senior year was cut short when I blew my ACL and required surgery.

I still play sand, doubles, reverse fours, sixes–whatever I can get my hands on, and I am not about to stop anytime in the near or far future.

Professional
I have worked for YMCA Camp Orkila as a summer camp director for the last several years and also in the coffee industry as a barista at Mercury’s Coffee. I’ve made my way around the South American continent since graduating college, teaching, studying and perfecting my salsa skills, slacklining & the art of Mate. My Spanish is impeccable though, but I haven’t had much time to settle down into anything too seriously yet-–but I’m making my way there steadily.
Personal

Pacific NW raised, but have been living in Argentina and Colombia on and off for the last couple of years. I really love a good home-cooked or traditional meal, photography, costumes, dancing, face paint, yoga, campfires, Sunday football, March Madness, Twin Peaks and Crossfit. My spirit animal is a cross between a unicorn and stallion and my favorite animals are penguins.
Coaching Philosophy
“You versus You.” Get in and do work. Be a team, and love one another. Live, breathe and sweat for one another. Check the drama at the door, we’ll talk about it on a roadtrip when there aren’t balls to be smashed, dug and shagged.
